Creative brief: Website redesign – Redesign the Childline website inline with their new brand and enable it to be accessible on mobile, tablet and desktop.
Completed: 2016
Personal role: IA, wireframes, user testing
Childline wanted to redesign their website to improve the site structure and make the site available on mobile, tablet and desktop. Our brief was to design a site that was responsive and accessible to enable Children to get support quickly. The site provides children with a number of important self support features such as online chat, message boards, information and advice, drawing tools and a login area.
I joined the project after an initial discovery phase had been completed, my first task was to run a tree test to understand how users were finding content on the current site structure.
I conducted a card sort to understand how users named and grouped the content within the main navigation and the information and advice section. I used this to create a new sitemap and conducted a further tree test.
I worked with the project stakeholders and psychologist to gather requirements.
I created wireframes of components and templates.
I worked with a colleague from the UX team to carry out inperson testing. We created a test script and a hi fideltiy clickable prototype in Axure to carry out user testing of critical tasks. I presented the findings back to the client and amended the wireframes where required.
I also conducted remote click tests on hi fidelity designs to validate users were able to find the relevant information on the page.
